What JSAUX actually said
The ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X20 was released on October 15. A week later, JSAUX posted on X, as quoted by PC Guide, that it was gauging ModCase interest. The post said the company was still evaluating the idea and asked people to give it a thumbs-up if they would buy one. PC Guide notes that JSAUX made clear it is still evaluating the idea, so an X20 ModCase has not been officially confirmed for release.
In other words, this is a market-research poll. It isn't a product announcement. There is no release date, price, design or materials list, and nothing shows that production has been approved. A thumbs-up tally can end in a product, or it can quietly end in nothing.
Don't buy the current ModCase for an X20
The most useful fact here is about compatibility. JSAUX's own product page says the current ModCase is not compatible with the ROG XBOX Ally X20 (2026). Amazon listings for the 2025 Xbox Ally/Ally X ModCase carry the same warning. One listing says it is compatible with ROG Xbox Ally X / ROG Xbox Ally (2025) only.
The ModCase line is split by generation:
- 2025 ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X: JSAUX sells one version for both. The collection page lists the ModCase at $37.99.
- 2024 ROG Ally X and 2023 ROG Ally: These have their own versions, and the page lists no X20 support for them either.
- ROG Xbox Ally X20 (2026): None of the existing versions fits.
The sources I found don't say why the existing case doesn't fit. ASUS's launch announcement does describe a different chassis. The X20 uses translucent black plastic. It also has a redesigned cooling system and a new OLED display. ASUS describes fans with fewer blades but a larger diameter, plus an 11% increase in heatsink fin surface area. Cases are cut to a specific body, with cutouts matched to the vents and ports. Some change in shape or layout is a plausible reason, but that is my inference. Neither ASUS nor JSAUX says it.
Accessories JSAUX lists for the X20
JSAUX's post says some existing accessories fit the X20. PC Guide names the Double-Deck Travel Case, the Sling Bag and the Multi-Mode Joystick & Grip Guard Set. I could confirm only one of the three on JSAUX's site. The Double-Decker Travel Case is listed as "for ROG Xbox Ally X20, Ally X & Ally." JSAUX's collection page also shows a filter for the X20 with two products.
A carrying case is not a fitted shell. A bag that holds the handheld says little about whether a snug case would fit. Check the exact product page for your model before you buy.
Pricing and what to expect
PC Guide suggests an X20 ModCase might cost about the same as the current $37.99 version. That is a guess, and JSAUX has announced no X20 price. The X20 itself is a premium device. ASUS lists it at US$1,299 on its own, and the bundle with AR glasses and two cases is US$2,499. Even so, the cost of a future X20 case is unknown.
Accessory bundles from JSAUX also vary by generation. Notebookcheck reported that JSAUX's RGB cooling fan attachment works only with the Ally X version of the ModCase. Don't assume a future X20 case would support the power-bank and fan add-ons that older versions do.
What X20 owners can do now
- Don't buy any current ModCase for an X20. JSAUX's page and Amazon listings explicitly exclude it.
- Use a bag or travel case for now. The Double-Decker Travel Case is the one JSAUX product I could confirm as X20-listed.
- Check the ASUS bundle. It includes a custom dbrand Killswitch case and a Pelican Protector case, but it costs far more than the standalone unit.
- Watch for an official JSAUX announcement. Treat the interest poll as a poll until then.
Bottom line
JSAUX is thinking about an X20 ModCase and hasn't committed to one. Until it does, the older ModCase is the wrong purchase for this handheld.
