An illustrated workflow connects website analytics, customer profiles, automated communications, and revenue growth dashboards.
Microsoft Advertising is now integrated with HubSpot, giving B2B marketers a way to connect advertising activity with CRM contacts, sales opportunities and revenue. Microsoft confirmed the integration in its September 30, 2026 product roundup, describing campaign reporting and automated lead follow-up within HubSpot rather than another disconnected advertising dashboard.

The practical attraction is straightforward: knowing which campaign collected clicks is useful; knowing which campaign produced a customer is considerably more useful. But administrators should pay attention to account permissions, tracking limitations and a wrinkle in HubSpot’s documentation before treating the connection as plug-and-play.

What the Microsoft–HubSpot integration changes

Microsoft says advertisers can use HubSpot CRM data to reach and retarget audiences across Microsoft Advertising, including verified LinkedIn professionals on Bing, Copilot, Outlook, Xbox and other Microsoft properties. Campaign activity can be connected to contacts and deals, with performance compared across channels inside HubSpot.

HubSpot’s integration page describes three connected capabilities:

  • Revenue measurement: Identify campaigns associated with contacts, pipeline and closed revenue.
  • Audience synchronization: Turn HubSpot contact lists into Microsoft Advertising audiences.
  • Lead follow-up: Trigger configured workflows after an ad click leads to a form submission, such as assigning a sales representative or starting a nurture sequence.

The LinkedIn reference needs careful interpretation. Microsoft’s announcement describes reaching LinkedIn professionals across Microsoft’s advertising properties. It should not be read as an announcement that this connection automatically creates or manages campaigns on LinkedIn itself.

The value proposition is therefore a more connected advertising-and-sales workflow—not a new advertising network, and not proof that every connected campaign will generate better results.

Connecting an existing advertising account

HubSpot’s connection guide, updated September 18, 2026, lists availability across all products and plans, except where noted. It requires Publish access to HubSpot’s Ads tool and Super Admin access to the individual Microsoft Advertising account. Use Microsoft credentials; Google sign-in is not supported for this connection.

For an existing account, the documented procedure is:

  1. Open Settings in HubSpot.
  2. Navigate to Marketing → Ads.
  3. In Ad accounts, select Connect account.
  4. Choose Microsoft Advertising.
  5. Sign in with the associated Microsoft account and select Allow.
  6. Select the advertising accounts to connect, then click Connect.

Successful connections appear in HubSpot’s advertising-account settings, with existing campaigns available for display and reporting. Customer-level accounts cannot be connected as a single umbrella account: connect their individual advertising accounts separately.

Common connection problems have specific checks:

  • Disable browser ad-blocking extensions when connecting and using the Ads tool.
  • Have an Entra administrator review approval requirements for organization-managed Microsoft accounts.
  • Check billing, policy violations and prolonged inactivity if HubSpot marks an account inactive.
  • Cancelled advertising accounts cannot remain connected.

Reporting is not the same as tracking

The most important implementation detail sits in HubSpot’s separate tracking documentation: a campaign appearing in reports does not mean it supports the same tracking capabilities as every other campaign type.

HubSpot’s table lists Search, Shopping, Hotel and App campaigns as supporting both tracking and reporting. Audience campaigns support reporting, but the table does not mark them as supporting tracking. Performance Max supports both, with reporting at campaign and asset-group levels rather than individual asset level.

That distinction matters when assessing the promise of connecting ads to revenue. A dashboard can show campaign performance without providing identical contact-level attribution across every format.

HubSpot also says its tracking uses an account-level Final URL Suffix and enables Microsoft click-ID auto-tagging, known as msclkid. Administrators should not overwrite that suffix. URL shorteners and third-party tracking redirects must preserve query parameters through to the landing page.

In practical terms, validate the tracking path before relying on the revenue dashboard. A clean-looking chart is not a substitute for confirming that campaign identifiers survive the journey to the website.

Availability and access deserve a second look

There is a documentation inconsistency worth acknowledging. Microsoft’s September 30 announcement says the integration is live, and HubSpot’s September 18 connection guide does not carry a beta notice. However, HubSpot’s tracking guide, dated September 7, still describes a Microsoft Advertising Integration beta that HubSpot Super Admins can opt into. These pages do not establish that every HubSpot account has an identical rollout state.

The connection also grants meaningful access. HubSpot says it can view and manage the connected advertising account, stores its account ID and receives a user token with permissions for connected accounts. This is an operational integration, not merely a read-only report export.

Our practical recommendation is to treat deployment as a joint marketing-and-IT task: review authorization, confirm the required features are available in the account, and validate attribution and follow-up behavior before expanding usage.

The bottom line

Microsoft and HubSpot have established a useful connection between advertising, CRM audiences and sales follow-up. The supported capabilities go beyond importing click totals: they include audience synchronization, configured automation and reporting tied to pipeline outcomes.

The sensible expectation is better visibility and fewer manual handoffs, not guaranteed revenue growth. Connect carefully, distinguish reporting from tracking, and verify the results against actual contacts and deals. Otherwise, the integration risks becoming one more dashboard confidently explaining what nobody has yet validated.
