Two 8-inch handheld gaming PCs compare Intel Arc G3 and G3 Extreme graphics, displaying contrasting game scenes.
MSI’s Claw 8 EX AI+ now presents a small but expensive naming trap. A newly reported configuration sold through Chinese e-commerce channels uses Intel Arc G3 graphics, while the version MSI highlighted at COMPUTEX uses the more powerful Arc G3 Extreme platform. Both carry the Claw 8 EX AI+ name. They are not the same handheld specification.

What changed in China

Technetbook reports that the CG3M configuration is listed for 10,499 yuan, with 32GB of memory and a 512GB SSD. Chinese outlet IT Home separately reports the same model, price and configuration, saying it costs 1,000 yuan less than an Arc G3 Extreme model with the same memory and storage capacities. That is a China-market comparison—not an announced US price or a Philippine launch.

The important distinction is inside the machine:

ConfigurationProcessorIntegrated graphicsStorage documented here
CG3M, reported Chinese listingIntel Arc G3Arc B370, 10 Xe cores512GB in the reported listing
CG3EM-024US, MSI’s US specificationIntel Arc G3 ExtremeArc B3901TB in that US configuration

The storage figures describe specific listings, not fixed capacities for every CG3M or CG3EM worldwide. MSI’s US specification confirms that its CG3EM-024US runs Windows 11 Home and pairs Arc B390 graphics with 32GB of LPDDR5x memory.

Technetbook and IT Home describe much of the CG3M’s remaining hardware as familiar: an 8-inch, 120Hz variable-refresh touchscreen, an 80Wh battery, Hall-effect sticks and triggers, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. MSI’s published US CG3EM specification confirms those broad features for that model; buyers should still check the exact regional specification before assuming every detail carries over.

Why the Philippine interest is a separate story

Gadget Pilipinas’s interest in trying the Claw 8 EX AI+ at SM Cyberzone concerns the Arc G3 Extreme handheld, not a confirmed local release of China’s lower-priced CG3M. Its team described its Tokyo Game Show encounter as a brief first look rather than a full review, and expressed a wish for more hands-on time and a Philippine release. Its subsequent Cyberzone discussion is likewise an aspiration to try the device if it reaches the Philippines—not evidence that stores have demonstration units or stock.

There is a precedent, but not a price guide: Gadget Pilipinas reported that the previous-generation Claw 8 AI+ was offered for Philippine preorder through MSI Concept Stores at Cyberzone for ₱59,995. That was a different product. Neither its old peso price nor the new Chinese yuan listing establishes what either Claw 8 EX AI+ configuration would cost locally.

The Windows handheld buyer’s takeaway

MSI says the Extreme model supports XeSS 3 Multi-Frame Generation and an Xbox-oriented mode for launching and resuming games. Those are useful features to investigate, but a feature list is not a battery-life test, and frame-generation results should not be mistaken for native game performance. Benchmarks for the B390-equipped CG3EM also should not be applied to the B370-equipped CG3M.

Before comparing a Claw 8 EX AI+ listing with another handheld PC—or with a gaming laptop at this price level—check the CG3M or CG3EM designation, GPU, SSD capacity, regional warranty and actual local price. The name on the box gets you into the conversation; the model number tells you which conversation you are having.
