What launched, and where
Xbox Wire's October Game Pass roundup lists Neon Abyss 2 for Cloud, Xbox Series X|S and PC on October 8, covered by Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass. That list does not name every platform the game is on. TheXboxHub also reports PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch versions. Nintendo's store page gives the Switch release date as October 8, 2026. I found no first-party PS5 listing in the evidence gathered here.
Early Access began on Steam on July 17, 2025, so the game spent about 15 months in testing. Steam lists the developer as Veewo Games and the publishers as Veewo Games and Kepler Ghost. The Xbox store lists Kepler Interactive as publisher.
One discrepancy: Steam's page shows an October 7 release date, while the Xbox and Nintendo listings say October 8. This is probably time zones or storefront handling, but I can't confirm that. Treat October 8 as the date most storefronts agree on.
The search results also offered some corroboration and some noise. AllKeyShop reports that the sequel is available day one on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. A Game8 page said the game had not been announced for Game Pass, which conflicts with Xbox Wire's own listing, so I'm not relying on it.
Game Pass: who is covered
Xbox's own wording is the safest guide.
- Xbox Wire lists Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass.
- The Xbox store page says it is a cloud-playable game included with Premium and Ultimate, and that a purchase is required to stream with Game Pass Essential.
- The store's subscription list marks Premium as "PC only" and Ultimate as the other tier. Xbox Wire's wording is broader, so the tier breakdown is slightly inconsistent. If you are on Premium, check your own Game Pass library before assuming console access.
- Online multiplayer on console requires Xbox Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate.
Don't assume the PlayStation or Switch versions have any Game Pass link. They don't.
Co-op: what is and isn't confirmed
Online co-op for up to four players is the headline addition. The Steam and Xbox descriptions both say you can bring up to three friends. They also say teammates can explore different rooms on the same map to find secrets and treasure.
The Xbox store page lists "Online co-op (2-4)" and "Xbox cross-platform co-op" among its capabilities. That is a store-listing claim. The sources I gathered don't explain how cross-platform matchmaking works or which platforms can play together. I found no evidence of local couch co-op, and Nintendo lists one player on a single system and 1-4 online.
Systems and build variety
The official descriptions back up the main mechanics:
- Combat styles: melee weapons such as a bat or saber, attacks from plants, and dragon-like creatures that fight for you.
- Item stacking: random drops combine, and the listing says there is no limit on how many items you can carry. "Unlimited synergies" is marketing language. It doesn't promise that every combination is useful.
- Hatchmon: companions you hatch, collect and evolve.
- Faith: a new system you can spend in a shop, use to recruit more Hatchmon, or gamble on a game of chance.
Third-party coverage adds details I could only partly verify. AllKeyShop says version 1.0 adds a Titan boss named Theia, and Game8 and Game Launch Hub also mention Theia, God of Vanity. Neither is an official source. Treat the specifics as reported rather than confirmed.
PC requirements
Steam lists these minimums for Windows:
| Component | Minimum |
|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit |
| Processor | Dual-core 2.4 GHz |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics | GeForce GTX 950, Radeon R7 360 or Intel HD Graphics 630 |
| DirectX | Version 12 |
| Storage | 2 GB available space |
The recommended section lists only a 64-bit processor and OS plus DirectX 12. No recommended CPU, GPU or RAM is given.
These are modest demands. An integrated Intel GPU is on the minimum list, so most laptops and older desktops should cope. The Xbox page lists 4K Ultra HD and 60 fps+ among its capabilities. It also lists handheld optimization, which matters for Windows handhelds.
Play Anywhere, saves and Steam
Xbox Wire and the Xbox store both tag the game as Xbox Play Anywhere, and the store lists Xbox cloud saves and achievements. That implies one purchase can cover Xbox and Windows. The sources don't spell out how entitlements or save syncing work, so I won't add detail there.
The Steam version is separate. It lists Steam Cloud and Family Sharing. I found nothing on whether Steam and Xbox saves carry across. If you already own the Early Access build on Steam, don't assume anything about the Xbox side.
Prices
Prices vary by region and change often. As of the pages captured here:
- Steam showed $19.99 with a 20% launch promotion to $15.99, and a Deluxe bundle reduced from $29.98 to $26.97.
- The Xbox store showed $19.99+ for the standard edition and $29.99+ for the Deluxe Edition. Its two add-ons, the Supporter Pack and Archenemy Returns, were $9.99 each.
- TheXboxHub quoted UK prices of £16.74 standard and £23.99 Deluxe, with £8.39 for each extra. I haven't independently verified those figures.
- Game8 reports that Early Access buyers get the Archenemy Returns DLC free. That comes from a third-party page, so check before relying on it.
Should you bother?
- Game Pass on PC: there is no extra cost, so installing it is nearly free to try.
- Steam owners: you already have 1.0 as an update, and Steam shows Very Positive reviews, 88% of 407 English reviews.
- Console players with a Game Pass tier: confirm your tier covers it, because the store and Xbox Wire wording differ slightly.
The honest caveat is that this is a launch announcement backed by store copy, not a review. Whether the four-player room-splitting and item stacking hold up in practice, I can't say. I haven't played it, and the launch-day sources don't include hands-on testing.
Update: Storm Breach adds a streamlined co-op mode in version 1.0 (October 8, 2026)
Neon Abyss 2’s launch update reportedly includes Storm Breach, a co-op-focused mode that skips exploration and takes players straight into combat, according to Rogueliker’s October 8 launch-day report. That adds a distinct option beyond the room-by-room dungeon exploration described above. For Windows players interested primarily in fighting alongside friends, it offers a more direct route into the action.
According to Rogueliker, version 1.0 also changes the order of evolution unlocks to make the early game easier for newcomers and adds Steam achievements. The outlet describes the remaining changes as mostly bug fixes and quality-of-life adjustments, but does not provide a detailed breakdown or performance measurements. Those reported progression changes are particularly relevant to players starting fresh through PC Game Pass or the console release.
The launch now also has some hands-on coverage: Rogueliker’s writer says they revisited the game during launch week and praises its combat and weapon variety. That supplements the store descriptions used above, although the report does not establish cross-platform matchmaking compatibility, Steam-to-Xbox save transfers, or Windows handheld performance.
