QSC has moved three Q-SYS products from "pending" to certified for Microsoft Teams Rooms. If you plan or manage Teams Rooms on Windows, that changes your options. It also raises a fair question: what does "certified" cover, and what does it leave out?

A man configures a video conferencing system in a modern meeting room as four colleagues appear on screen. What QSC announced

QSC announced on October 21, 2026, that three products are now certified for Microsoft Teams. They are the Q-SYS RoomSuite Modular System, the NC-90-G2 network camera, and the Windows-based Q-SYS RoomSuite Collaboration Bar. The Collaboration Bar is also shipping in more than fifty countries across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Latin America, and QSC expects availability to grow.

Commercial Integrator's coverage adds that the pitch is a choice of deployment models. Integrators now have a certified path whether a space needs a core-based system, a modular build or an all-in-one bar.

A change from June

The bar's status is the real news here. When QSC launched the RoomSuite Collaboration Bar in June, it was described as still in the process of achieving Microsoft Teams certification. A WindowsForum discussion at the time advised caution, noting that "in process" is not the same as certified. That caveat has now been resolved for the bar.

The same applies to the modular system. A Q-SYS support FAQ, last updated in February 2026, says doesn't evaluate feature-level or cloud environment support.

For deployment planning, that means certification is a solid baseline. It does not prove that every optional feature, room layout or future software version has been validated. Test what you intend to use.

The NC-90-G2 and Active Speaker Framing

The headline feature is Active Speaker Framing, which pairs the modular system with the NC-90-G2. Q-SYS's own help documentation backs the camera-specific claim. Active Speaker Framing and Tile View are NC-90 modes, not available on the NC-12x80 or NC-20x60. It also says the NC-90's Auto Framing uses face and skeletal detection, while the other two cameras use face-based framing.

If a room's design depends on active-speaker tracking, the camera choice therefore matters. Choosing an NC-12x80 or NC-20x60 stays within the certified bundle but gives up those NC-90 modes. A Q-SYS spec sheet reportedly gives a maximum recommended subject distance of 26 feet for Active Speaker Framing. I could not confirm that figure in current sources, so check it in the spec sheet before sizing a large room.

Management through Q-SYS Reflect

QSC says every certified solution connects through Q-SYS Reflect, giving integrators and IT teams one platform for mixed room types. Q-SYS's product page describes Reflect Plus as a way to monitor Core-based systems and RoomSuite together. It says it can deploy presets and run bulk remote firmware updates for the modular system.

That is vendor-described capability. A single console is convenient, but it won't erase the operational differences between a Windows bar, a modular rig and its peripherals. IT teams should still plan for Windows updates and Teams Rooms management in the usual way.

Practical checklist before you spec a room

  1. Compare your bill of materials against the exact bundle on Microsoft's certified list.
  2. Use a listed microphone and camera model, not just a similar one.
  3. Choose the NC-90-G2 if you need Active Speaker Framing.
  4. Confirm which software versions the listing names.
  5. Check Q-SYS's Microsoft solutions page, as QSC itself advises, before finalizing designs.

Bottom line

This is a useful, concrete update for Teams Rooms planners. The bar has moved from "pending" to certified, and the modular system now has a certified route with the NC-90-G2. The quotes from QSC's Patrick Heyn and Microsoft's Albert Kooiman are company messaging, not independent testing. The sound approach is to treat certification as a good baseline and then verify your specific configuration.
