Xbox has published the first Game Pass wave for October 2026. It runs from October 8 to October 16 and includes Battlefield 6, Valor Mortis and Forever Ago. It also lists nine games leaving on October 15. Two of those departures share a date with two incoming titles, so subscribers have some planning to do.

What's arriving, and when

Xbox Wire's announcement, written by Senior Community Lead Megan Spurr, lays out the schedule. The exact tier and platform labels differ from game to game, so they are worth reading closely.

Oct 15Chained BeastsCloud, Xbox Series X|S, PCUltimate, PC Game Pass
Oct 16Beyond These StarsPC onlyUltimate, PC Game Pass

TrueAchievements counts nine new games, eight of them limited to Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Only Neon Abyss 2 also reaches Game Pass Premium. That matches Microsoft's own listing.

Two day-one labels are worth noting. Microsoft's post tags most of the list as available on day one. It does not apply that label to Neon Abyss 2 or Battlefield 6. Battlefield 6 is a catalog addition, since the game launched in October 2025. Wikipedia lists its original release as October 10, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S.

Battlefield 6: the headline, with fine print

Battlefield 6 is the big name on the list, and Microsoft attaches EA Play details to it. EA Play members can unlock the Deployment Pack, claim the Season 5 EA Play Pack and earn recurring seasonal rewards. Game Pass Ultimate includes EA Play and adds 10% off eligible EA digital purchases.

The post lists Battlefield 6 under both Ultimate and PC Game Pass. It ties the "EA Play included" and 10% discount language only to Ultimate. Don't assume the extras carry over to every tier.

One date discrepancy

Gematsu's write-up places the Battlefield 6 entry under an "October 8" heading. Xbox Wire gives October 13, and so do GameSpot's wave list, which puts Battlefield 6, Deep Dish Dungeon and Valor Mortis on October 13. The Gematsu heading looks like a formatting slip. Go with October 13, and check the Xbox app on the day.

PC players: check Secure Boot first

EA's Battlefield 6 FAQ has Windows-specific requirements that matter if you plan to play through PC Game Pass:

  • Secure Boot is required on PC. EA describes it as a Windows 10 and Windows 11 feature that supports its Javelin anti-cheat.
  • Minimum specs listed are a Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600, 16 GB RAM, an RTX 2060 or RX 5600 XT class GPU, DirectX 12 and 60 GB of storage. EA lists Windows 10 as the minimum OS.
  • Recommended specs are a Core i7-10700 or Ryzen 7 3700X, an RTX 3060 Ti or RX 6700 XT class GPU, 90 GB of storage and Windows 11.

This FAQ is launch-era material from 2025. Xbox's announcement doesn't repeat any of it, and I haven't verified that the requirements are unchanged for the Game Pass release. Treat them as the best published baseline and confirm on the store page before you download a large file.

Quick Secure Boot check on Windows

  1. Press Win+R, type msinfo32 and press Enter.
  2. In System Summary, find Secure Boot State.
  3. If it says On, you're set. If it says Off or Unsupported, the setting is controlled in your PC's firmware (UEFI) settings. Menu names vary by manufacturer.

The rest of the wave

Xbox Wire's descriptions cover a wide range of genres:

  • Valor Mortis is a first-person soulslike from the creators of Ghostrunner. The player is a former soldier of Napoleon's army. It carries the Handheld label, which Xbox defines as optimized for handheld play. Wikipedia lists the release as October 13, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S.
  • Forever Ago is a single-player road-trip adventure where you photograph memories on a journey north.
  • Echo Weaver is a time-loop metroidvania. Xbox's October 2 weekly roundup also lists it for October 8 as a Game Pass and Xbox Play Anywhere title, which backs up the date.
  • Neon Abyss 2 is a pixelated cyberpunk roguelike and the only new arrival on the Premium tier.
  • Deep Dish Dungeon is a survival-exploration game with crafting, playable solo or in online co-op.
  • Chained Beasts is a one-to-four-player co-op gladiator roguelike in which players are chained together.
  • Bluey's Happy Snaps is a photo adventure for one or two players. It's the only title in the wave with both console and handheld labels besides Valor Mortis.
  • Beyond These Stars is a city-builder set on a space whale. It's PC only, with no cloud or console version listed.

Already available, plus a perk

Xbox also reminded subscribers of three games already in the catalog. These are Shape of Dreams, which has a Starless Path anniversary update, Minecraft Dungeons II and Gears of War: E-Day. Gears and Minecraft Dungeons II are both listed for Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

There is also a perk for subscribers. Asphalt Legends has an in-game benefit available now on Ultimate, Premium, Essential and PC Game Pass. It includes a Ford GT MKII, 250 tokens and 250,000 credits. This is a benefit for an existing game, not a new addition.

Leaving October 15

These nine titles leave the catalog on October 15:

  • A Plague Tale: Requiem
  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
  • Crime Scene Cleaner
  • Donut County
  • Evil West
  • Nova Roma (Game Preview, PC)
  • Pacific Drive
  • Superball
  • The Casting of Frank Stone

All but Nova Roma are listed for Cloud, Console and PC. Xbox suggests buying them before they go, but the post gives no prices or discount amounts. Check the store listing for any deal before relying on it.

What to do with this

  • If you're on Premium or Essential: most of this wave is out of reach. Neon Abyss 2 is the only new game on Premium, and the Asphalt Legends perk is the only item that reaches Essential.
  • If you're on PC Game Pass: Beyond These Stars is the only PC-only title. Battlefield 6 needs a Secure Boot check and a lot of free disk space.
  • If you're playing something leaving: finish it before October 15, or buy it. Expedition 33 and A Plague Tale: Requiem are the likeliest to be mid-playthrough for many people.
  • If you play on handheld: Valor Mortis and Bluey's Happy Snaps carry the optimized label. Other titles may still run, but Microsoft hasn't vouched for them.

What the announcement doesn't say

Xbox's post gives no download sizes, exact release times, regional availability, prices for the departing games or PC requirements for the new arrivals. Those details will have to come from each game's store page.

Overall, this is a solid mid-month wave with one big recognizable name. The tier fine print matters more than usual, though. Check your own subscription level before you get excited about the lineup.
