So you don't need to rush on everything. You do need to rush on a handful. Here's what's on the list, which items expire first, and what Microsoft's own documentation says about who qualifies and how claiming works.
Who actually gets these perks? It depends which Xbox page you read
Eligibility is the part most people get wrong, and Microsoft's pages don't make it easy.
- Partner Perks (codes and partner offers): Microsoft's Perks page says Perks are additional, free member benefits that are available to all Game Pass Ultimate members, and that Perks are an added benefit for Game Pass Ultimate members only. They are available in all Game Pass Ultimate markets unless noted otherwise.
- In-game benefits for free-to-play games: Xbox's US in-game benefits page is broader. It says in-game benefits are available to Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, Essential, and PC Game Pass subscribers. The same FAQ also says in-game benefits will be removed if you unsubscribe or change your subscription to Game Pass Essential or Premium.
Those two statements on the same page don't sit comfortably together. My practical reading is that the free-to-play rewards are open to more tiers, while code-based Perks stay with Ultimate, and that some benefits may depend on your tier or platform. TrueAchievements labels each entry "Free-to-play," "Xbox Game Pass," or "Xbox Game Pass, Ubisoft+." The only reliable test is the live offer under your own account. Xbox also warns that game titles, number, features, and availability vary over time, by region, XBOX Game Pass plan, and platform.
In short: If you're on Ultimate, everything should be open to you. If you're on Essential, Premium or PC Game Pass, check each offer before you assume it's yours.
How to claim: two delivery methods
TrueAchievements describes two kinds of reward, and Xbox's documentation fills in the details.
Method 1: Code-based Perks
- On an Xbox console, open the Game Pass section. On Windows or mobile, open the Xbox app. Microsoft says you can find and redeem new Perks on your console, the Xbox app on mobile, or the Xbox app on Windows PC.
- In the Xbox PC app, Xbox says to click the Benefits button on the Home or XBOX Game Pass tab.
- Pick the offer and claim it. You get a code.
- Redeem the code. Rare's Sea of Thieves support page explains the PC route: once you have your code, you can redeem this in the XBOX app by heading into the "Store" section and then the specific "Redeem" button, then enter the 25-character code.
- Launch the game. The items should be waiting.
Method 2: In-game benefits (account linking)
- Make sure your Xbox profile is linked to the game's own account. Xbox says to go to the participating game's website to link your XBOX profile.
- Launch a supported game on your XBOX console, PC, or supported device to claim your in-game benefits.
- Note that content is updated on a monthly or seasonal cadence, depending on the game. That's why titles like Wuthering Waves deliver rewards after each version update.
Common problems
- Claiming isn't the same as redeeming. Rare points out that purchasing Gamepass will not automatically add these promotions to your game - these will still need to be claimed and then redeemed. Several October offers have two dates, a claim-by and a redeem-by. Miss the second one and the code is useless.
- Wrong account. Rare advises paying attention to the email address shown on the redemption screen, because this is where your content will be delivered. This is a common mistake on PCs where more than one family member signs in.
- Wrong storefront. Rare also warns that if you redeem on the Microsoft Store but usually play somewhere else, your redeemed content will not be visible until you launch the MS Store version of the game on console, the Xbox app or xCloud. If you play Sea of Thieves through Steam, plan around that.
- Code won't redeem? Microsoft's official advice is short: If you can't redeem your Perks, please contact us at Xbox Support.
Deadlines in October 2026: claim these first
| Claim by | Game | Platforms | What's included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oct 6 | Asphalt Legends | Series X|S, One, PC | 10 card packs, 250 tokens, 250,000 credits |
| Oct 6 | World of Tanks Modern Armor | Series X|S, One | Bjorn Larsen 3D Commander plus Commander XP boosters |
| Oct 16 | Superball | Series X|S, One, PC | Year One pack: 16 heroes per season (5–6 seasons), +10 battle pass levels, 500 Nano Gold, 5 Lucky Cards |
| Oct 19 | Star Trek Online | Series X|S, One | Captain's Edition: full game, rare ship, outfits, 1,000 Zen, more |
| Oct 22 | Once Human | Series X|S, PC | Xbox-exclusive avatar plus monthly Meta Pass (daily chests, cosmetic trials, coupons, Battle Pass XP boosts) |
| Oct 23 (redeem by Oct 30) | Disney Speedstorm | Series X|S, One, PC | Monochromatic Classic Stitch suit and kart livery, Cobra Bubbles shards |
| Oct 23 | The Finals | Series X|S, PC | Season 11 Welcome Pack: 500 Multibucks, 25% bonus XP, Venus Valiant set |
| Oct 31 (redeem by Nov 11) | Sea of Thieves | Series X|S, One, PC | Lustrous Speaking Trumpet |
One oddity: TrueAchievements writes the World of Tanks booster count as "X4 Commander XP Boosters (10)." That could mean four boosters or ten. Check the offer itself before you count on either number.
The Sea of Thieves trumpet is also the only October-deadline entry labeled "Xbox Game Pass" rather than "Free-to-play." Sea of Thieves isn't free-to-play, so expect to need access to the game itself.
In short: Asphalt Legends and World of Tanks expire within days of this roundup. Claim those today and work through the rest.

Ongoing benefits
- Brawlhalla: Kill Thrill Hattori skin, Hattori Legend unlock, Regal Sun Sword weapon skin.
- Diablo IV: link Battle.net with an active Game Pass subscription for 57 cosmetics, including six armor sets and the White Wildcat mount. The deadline is listed as "Unknown."
- Fortnite Crew: listed for Game Pass Ultimate, covering the current Battle Pass, OG Pass, Lego Pass, Music Pass and Rocket Pass Premium, plus 800 V-Bucks a month.
- Microsoft Bubble, Jewel and Mahjong (Xbox on PC): ad-free play, achievements and extra moves. Mahjong also doubles Daily Challenge points.
- Wuthering Waves: after each version update, two Morphable Echoes, 10 Premium Tuners and 30,000 Shell Credits, plus a one-time "Paths and Possibilities" Sigil.
- Zenless Zone Zero (Series X|S): after the 3.1 update, 80 Polychrome, two Ether Batteries, 10 Senior Investigator Logs, 15 W-Engine Energy Modules and 75,000 Denny.
A small error to know about: TrueAchievements lists a pack under Microsoft Mahjong that contains TurBricks, Gear Tickets, Weapon EXP Tokens and Safe Box access cards. Those item names match the Delta Force rewards, not a tile-matching game, so that pack most likely belongs to Delta Force. Don't expect weapon tokens in Mahjong.
Are they worth it?
Most of these are free-to-play extras: cosmetics, boosters and currency meant to get you invested in a live-service game. That's not a criticism, just how the model works. The publishers get attention, and Microsoft gets another reason for you to keep paying.
Some offers do have real value:
- The Riot unlocks (all League champions, all Valorant agents) save a lot of grinding.
- The Star Trek Online Captain's Edition includes the full game.
- The Discord Nitro trial is useful if you qualify.
The rest are mostly skins.
One last thing to check: many of these require linking your Xbox account to Battle.net, Riot, Discord or a publisher account. Look at which services you've connected, and unlink any you've stopped using.
Bottom line: Claim Asphalt Legends and World of Tanks this week, note the redeem-by dates for Speedstorm, Sea of Thieves, Siege and Throne and Liberty, and check each offer under your own account and tier. Microsoft's pages don't agree on who gets what.
