Castlevania: a head start that carries forward
Konami’s Xbox Store listing dates the Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse Demo to September 30, 2026. It offers the beginning of the game and explicitly allows demo save data to transfer into the full release. Some content may differ in the finished game, but this is more than a disposable taste test: players intending to continue can preserve their opening progress.
The US Xbox Store lists the full game for October 15, 2026, with Evil Empire named as developer and Konami as publisher. Its description emphasizes whip-based combat and traversal, alongside equipment customization and an Arcana system that turns defeated bosses into usable abilities. Those are full-game features, not a promise that the demo includes every system or encounter.
There is an important platform wrinkle for Windows readers. Although the demo page displays an Xbox Play Anywhere badge, its description specifically says the demo is available only on Xbox Series X|S. The full game lists both PC and Series X|S. The explicit demo restriction is the detail to follow; a badge should not be treated as proof of a Windows demo download.
Practical takeaway: This is the strongest option for anyone who wants a preview that also serves as a head start, rather than an opening section they must repeat.
Fatal Fury: four modes, no progress transfer
SNK’s FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves – Demo Version is also listed as free, with a September 30, 2026 release date and Xbox Series X|S support. The official description confirms four playable modes:
- Arcade
- Versus
- Tutorial
- Training
The listing also identifies the REV System as part of the experience.
Those named modes provide a useful way to assess the fighting game without assuming the demo contains the complete release. As a suggested approach—not a requirement—start with Tutorial, use Training to practice, and then move into Arcade or Versus to judge whether the controls suit you.
Demo saves cannot transfer to the full version, and SNK warns that demo content may change. The store description does not establish a complete character roster or guarantee the full game’s online feature set within this trial. Treat it as a place to evaluate the fighting, not a shortcut through the finished game.
Elta: an hour-sized preview, with a Windows option
Elta: Defy All Gods has the clearest published time commitment: its official Steam demo description estimates 45–60 minutes, covering the Prologue tutorial and the opening portion of the game. Save data will not transfer at release, and the demo has been adjusted relative to the full game.
Focus Entertainment’s October 1 announcement confirms that the free demo is available on PC through Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Developed by Afterburner Studios, the action-platformer combines melee combat, platforming, and science-fiction exploration. The publisher says the preview reaches a first boss encounter and gives the full game a scheduled release date of February 2, 2027.
For Windows users, Steam lists 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11, 16GB of RAM, 15GB of available storage, and an SSD requirement. These are PC requirements; they should not be mistaken for the Xbox download size or console specifications.
The early reception claim also has a measurable basis. On October 2, the inspected Steam listing showed 46 user reviews, with 95% positive, producing a “Positive” rating. That is encouraging, but it remains a small PC-demo sample—not an Xbox performance assessment or a verdict on the unreleased full game.
Three more demos in the roundup
Pure Xbox also identifies these recent additions:
- The Zibbo Show Demo — October 1, 2026: a strategy preview built around dice and cards.
- Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered Demo — September 24, 2026: another recent trial, rather than an addition from the same two-day window.
- Sniper Dan Demo — September 10, 2026: the oldest of the additional downloads highlighted.
The official Xbox listing confirms that Sniper Dan is a free Series X|S demo and describes a hidden-object adventure built around finding problems and solving them with carefully aimed shots. Despite the name, its advertised focus is puzzle-solving rather than a conventional military-shooter trial.
The detail worth checking before downloading
The useful comparison is not simply which demo sounds most exciting. Castlevania preserves progress; Fatal Fury and Elta do not. Castlevania’s demo also has an explicit console-only restriction, whereas Elta offers a separately confirmed Steam route for Windows players.
That makes this a welcome batch of previews with different purposes: a transferable opening chapter, a fighting-game practice space, and a roughly hour-long action-platformer sample. The downloads may be free, but knowing what survives afterward can save something equally valuable: your time.
Update: Additional Castlevania story and edition details (October 3, 2026)
Gaming Age reports that Belmont’s Curse follows Rose Belmont in monster-ridden Paris, where she takes up the fight after a bishop contacts her father, Trevor. Rose uses a blade and magical tarot cards inherited from her late mother—details not outlined in the Xbox Store description.
The report also says physical editions will include the Family Grace relic, parent-color costumes for Rose, and a Sound & Art Gallery. Pre-orders are set to include an Alucard-inspired costume for Rose.
