Hi all,
Hoping I'm not duplicating anything obvious, but what I found was already quite old. As a recent convert (albeit one that's still unsure) from MacOS, I wondered whether it would be possible to simply "clone" my Lenovo T470's SSD to a new, bigger one, so that I don't need to reconfigure...
Not sure whats going on but for some dumb reason windows 10 is not recognizing my
3TB Hitachi UltraStar 7K3000 as a HDD
it insists its a SSD.
My 850 evo has to go back to samsung so they told me to clone the c: onto D: then change boot order.
Perfect sense, same as always so I do so and now not...

I installed a new Sandisk SSD on my old PC (using EaseToDo for the cloning) but had to leave the old drive connected as well, due to boot issues which I gave up trying to resolve. I'm sorry if today's question doesn't make sense: do I gain any advantage by opening Windows with the old drive...
Since new my Samsung R540 laptop has had two partitions, C for programs and D for data. I decided to replace the (slow) HDD with a SSD, and in the cloning process somehow everything was put into one partition. Is there any advantage in having separate partitions for programs and data?
Hello
I'd like to save an image of Windows 8 onto a second partition using Clonezilla, and have a couple of questions before proceeding:
1. Why does W8 create two partitions (350MB and 147.3GB) instead of just one?
2. When running fdisk in Linux, why does it display so many /dev/ramX...

Pardon my cluelessness, but I'm trying to fix up a backup disk for my mother's Win7 machine. I will be installing a second drive that I intend to clone onto from the original. I assume such a clone will be bootable.
But how do I tell the system which disk to boot on? As in, at startup, I ought...
Apologies if I am duplicating an issue here.
Just recently I bought a new copy of Windows 10 64 bit and a Toshiba Q300 480g SSD.
I removed the old HDD (which was still running XP), connected the SSD and tried to install Windows 10. No luck at all - it did not identify the SSD drive and...

Hi guys,
I am in dire need of some help/advice.
My parents are on vacation and I thought I would finally upgrade my mother's PC. This PC was still running on Windows XP along with several old programs. Normally I would do a clean install, however she wanted to keep everything *sigh*
So first...

I think this experience may be useful to Win7/8 users who build and maintain home and small business systems. I regularly clone and swap drives keeping at least one spare at the ready per system at all times. I was shocked to discover that under certain conditions Win7 installation creates a...

I have a Windows 8.1 Asus UX303LA laptop up-to-date on all updates. If I do a shift + restart, it goes to a "Choose Options" screen that includes "Continue", "Use a Device", Troubleshoot" and "Turn Off". If I select "Troubleshoot", the options are, "UEFI Firmware" and "Startup Settings". There...

Hello!
This one should twist your head a bit if you’re anything like me!
I have a Pavilion M6 1045DX laptop and the HD crashed. It was 750GB so off to eBay I went to buy another one. I decided to buy a NEW SEALED HD so I bought a blue label WD brand new. (March 2014) Just for grins I wiped and...
Hi,
I have replaced an IDE HDD with a cloned SDD on an XP SP3 (Asus motherboard) PC. The PC boots up off
SDD ok after the error message "IDE HDD master not found press F1" and pressing F1. I'm trying to get rid of this error message. The Bios setup thinks the IDE is still in the PC even thought...

I know I went the wrong way about this....but can anyone point to a SIMPLE solution?
So I have an Athlon 64 as my spare PC and it runs XP perfectly on 4Gb Ram.
And after building my Haswell i7 and upgrading the SSD to the Samsung EVO 250Gb, I had a Samsung Pro 128Gb spare; and a copy of...

When I purchased a SSD, I cloned my Windows 7 mechanical hard drive to the SSD and set the SSD as the boot drive. I need to make the mechanical HD the boot drive again. The BIOS (American Megatrends) lists both drives: SATA Port2 - the SSD drive; SATA Port3 - the mechanical HD. However, the HD...
Hello my name is Ethan,
It is nearing the holidays and computer hardware updates are inevitable. My hard drive currently is a 500 gigabyte Seagate model and it is almost full. I am soon to receive and new 2 terabyte Seagate model. I am going to use a raid system on my motherboard to combine the...
I've been using True Image for synchronizing files between my video archives, and it does a good job, with one small problem that I would like to avoid. It synchronizes both ways. To illustrate what I mean, I think of the primary archives as the master, and the other as the slave. Since the...
