About this tag
Cloud rebuild is a Windows 11 recovery feature in testing that reinstalls Windows and drivers from Windows Update through the Windows Recovery Environment, without requiring USB media. It reformats the system drive, erases local apps and files, and returns the PC to OOBE. WindowsForum discussions emphasize that cloud rebuild is a last-resort, human-approved action for boot failures, distinct from Quick Machine Recovery or Reset this PC. IT teams should preflight WinRE, network, and drivers on each hardware model before deployment, and retain local recovery media as a fallback. The tag covers Microsoft's recovery guidance, Insider previews, and practical considerations for enterprise support.
