My CPU fan is constantly working extra hard. I observed the CPU usage in System Monitor and if I'm completely idle it's around 0-5% but the moment I start to do something it jumps to the 20-30% range and frequently peaks to higher percentages.

Any ideas as to what could be going on? I was at work, then came home. 3rd shift at a retail store is a trip. lol, so...any solutions to this?
I just recently upgraded from a E6750 to a Q9550 cpu (IP35 pro motherboard, latest bios supports it) and the issue is Windows 7 is only seeing 2 cores at all times. Running CPU-Z shows 2 cores, 6MB L2 cache, etc etc. Device Manager shows 4 unknown devices under Processor selection.

There seems to be a problem with media player becaue now whenever I open it the proccessor starts behaving in a strange way. It hasn't always done this but it is fluctuating like mad, all 4 cores up down. Has anybody else experianced this and if so have you been able to remedy it. Ive checked...
