About this tag
Emotet is a sophisticated, modular Trojan that primarily functions as a downloader or dropper of other malware, including banking Trojans. It resurged in July 2020 after a dormant period and has been among the most costly and destructive malware affecting state, local, tribal, and territorial governments as well as the private and public sectors. Emotet is often delivered via phishing emails containing malicious links or attachments, such as Word documents. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the Multi-State Information Sharing & Analysis Center (MS-ISAC) have issued alerts detailing Emotet's tactics, techniques, and procedures using the MITRE ATT&CK framework. Discussions on WindowsForum cover analysis of Emotet infection stages and mitigation strategies.
