About this tag
The ext3 tag on WindowsForum.com covers discussions about using the ext3 file system in Windows environments. Topics include reading ext3/ext4 Linux partitions from Windows 7 using tools like Ext2Fsd, formatting USB drives to ext3 for devices such as the Humax Foxsat PVR, and issues arising when Linux installs convert Windows drives to ext3, preventing Windows 7 reinstallation. Users seek methods to format ext3 drives back to NTFS, often via command prompt or third-party utilities. The tag reflects challenges Windows users face when interacting with ext3 partitions, including driver support, formatting options, and recovery from accidental conversion.
Ubuntu Geek: "Ext2Fsd is an ext2 file system driver for Windows 2000, XP, Vista. It's a free software and everyone can distribute and modify it under GPL2."
