Windows 7 Link Removed as a way to effortlessly position windows on the desktop just the way you want them. You no longer had to frustratingly fiddle with the sizes and positions of windows just to get them into common layouts. Windows 8 increased productivity further, being the first OS to...
I have a Microsoft natural keyboard on my Windows 8.1 64bit Dell desktop PC. I want to enter PF5 in order to make my browsers reload the web page, but I don't know how to do that. Each of my PF keys are marked on their top surface with their main function. For example, the PF5 key is marked...
Good morning!
For several years I have been using Readerware software to catalogue my books, videos and music CDs without the slightest hitch or problem. Today, out of the blue, I find myself unable add information in the appropriate fields of the programmes by a simple cut & paste. I have done...
So I would really, dearly, sincerely like to know if there isn't an easier, more intuitive way to access special characters than the ludicrously arcane alt+0xxx combinations Microsoft invites you to accept (did they have robot users in mind when they decided that was a good design decision?)...

Hi, I use windows 7 64bit.
I want to add "xdelete" to context menu of windows explorer. What is xdelete?
Its function is exactly the same as preexisting delete menu, So that if I select some files or folders and click them with right mouse button and press X, it will say "are you sure you want...
I'm using my HP laptop (Win7 Home 64-bit) with a monitor. When I turned it on this morning the image on both of the screens (laptop and monitor) is sideways. Unfortunately I am probably the culprit because of touching a key or combination of keys on the keyboard during the boot up since I had my...
I have always been able to print from my browser to my network printer. It shows up on the system in my new win8.1 system, but when I try to use CTRL + P to print from Firefox, nothing happens, and its not an option using the context menu. So am I not supposed to print anymore unless I use the...
In Windows 7 Pro, once Speech Recognition is turned on, I want to invoke keyboard commands that have more than 2 keys. In Photoshop, for instance, Save for Web is Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S. If I say: Press Control plus Alt plus Shift plus S, nothing happens. Is there a way to invoke commands that...
This is not a show stopper because I have learned the work-arounds, but it's highly annoying.
I often have 3,4,5 sessions of File Explore open at once. [old habit] I can use the keyboard to copy/paste, etc with no problem. But if I use the right mouse click to "copy" or check Properties, or...

Dear all,
Like many, I use keyboard shortcuts extensively. Some are application specific, some are system shortcuts. I am finding that Windows 8 shortcuts are overriding shortcuts I use in some applications, and I would like to be able to delete or reassign the system shortcut so I can use it...
I just inadvertently found this today. W/ Snap you can run it right beside your desktop. Discover, learn & be glad to know all the Win8 Keyboard Commands (shortcuts) & w/ this right beside you, as you are doing things, it's your cheat sheet to getting them memorized.

:apologetic: I know if I am in the Metro, I can press the window button to go back to the desktop. But I read about a cheat, that you press the win key, it will get you back to desktop, if you press it again, it will take you back to the AP you were currently on. This does not work for me...
In Windows 7 you were able to open up a Website or some other window and hit the calculator key on your keyboard, or open the calculator some other way, and it would hover above the window you were viewing. With Windows 8, when you open the calculator, it takes you to the desktop. If you are...
Would it be nice to have a shortcut which would show you a form with all the keyboard shortcuts in Windows 8?
Alternatively have a search charm that lets you list them by name?
We are in the process of finding out if this would be a viable application/feature in Windows 8.
Thanks for...
Just to add to this, regarding Search; yes, one can go through Charms & using his example begin typing N-O... once you then click on Notepad, it appears back on Desktop. But, it is, also, not necessary or the only way, to go via Charms... WinQ (all Applications), WinW (Settings) & WinF (Files)...

In XP (and Vista), you type alphebets to select a file or folder. For example, you are trying to access a file named "My file.txt", you type "m", "y" and it goes directly to folder or files start withm and y so it's close to My file.txt. This is convenient way to find a file you need.
But, it's...
Besides the CTRL tab and CTRL SHIFT TAB which goes one tab to the right or left, is there a shortcut where you can go directly to a tab like you can on Chrome and Firefox?
