This is not a show stopper because I have learned the work-arounds, but it's highly annoying.
I often have 3,4,5 sessions of File Explore open at once. [old habit] I can use the keyboard to copy/paste, etc with no problem. But if I use the right mouse click to "copy" or check Properties, or...

Dear all,
Like many, I use keyboard shortcuts extensively. Some are application specific, some are system shortcuts. I am finding that Windows 8 shortcuts are overriding shortcuts I use in some applications, and I would like to be able to delete or reassign the system shortcut so I can use it...
I just inadvertently found this today. W/ Snap you can run it right beside your desktop. Discover, learn & be glad to know all the Win8 Keyboard Commands (shortcuts) & w/ this right beside you, as you are doing things, it's your cheat sheet to getting them memorized.

:apologetic: I know if I am in the Metro, I can press the window button to go back to the desktop. But I read about a cheat, that you press the win key, it will get you back to desktop, if you press it again, it will take you back to the AP you were currently on. This does not work for me...
In Windows 7 you were able to open up a Website or some other window and hit the calculator key on your keyboard, or open the calculator some other way, and it would hover above the window you were viewing. With Windows 8, when you open the calculator, it takes you to the desktop. If you are...
Would it be nice to have a shortcut which would show you a form with all the keyboard shortcuts in Windows 8?
Alternatively have a search charm that lets you list them by name?
We are in the process of finding out if this would be a viable application/feature in Windows 8.
Thanks for...
Just to add to this, regarding Search; yes, one can go through Charms & using his example begin typing N-O... once you then click on Notepad, it appears back on Desktop. But, it is, also, not necessary or the only way, to go via Charms... WinQ (all Applications), WinW (Settings) & WinF (Files)...

In XP (and Vista), you type alphebets to select a file or folder. For example, you are trying to access a file named "My file.txt", you type "m", "y" and it goes directly to folder or files start withm and y so it's close to My file.txt. This is convenient way to find a file you need.
But, it's...
Besides the CTRL tab and CTRL SHIFT TAB which goes one tab to the right or left, is there a shortcut where you can go directly to a tab like you can on Chrome and Firefox?
Just a little tidbit I thought I'd throw in here.
When dual/multi booting with previous versions of Windows, you have your basic black screen w/white text and when choosing your OS to boot to, you have to use the up/down arrows and hit enter.
With the visually nice boot menu screen of Windows...
Here I have put together a list of all the Chrome OS keyboard shortcuts, if any shortcuts are missing feel free to post them. I hope these will help you guys out!

A few Tips - A (Potentially) Useful, Valuable Compilation
Many people miss Quick Launch in Windows 7. Although the new/redesigned Taskbar is what it is it can still be felt that there is a worthwhile purpose served by Quick Launch. It is (still) really a nice...
Hi,
I have a very weird problem: my backspace key works in a program only if it ran as administrator! It has started suddenly, don't remember any changes I'd done before that, including widows update.
I've Windows 7 x64, MS Curve 2000 keyboard.
Any help will be appreciated!
Thanks!

As you may note from this question, I am not a skilled user. I run dual monitors on a dell desktop with windows 7 pro. All was good until recently and now whenever typing if I use the 1 and 2 number keys on qwerty (not number pad) the window I am working in jumps monitors. Apparently I...
I ran the DP from mid-September 2011. Messed w/ it sporadically. Since 29/2/12 have been solidly w/ Windows8. To little time to learn it, personalise it. I'm running dual-boot w/ Windows7, both x64. The Start is of little concern... I boot to the Desktop... have customized start but visit it...

Y'all are making far too big a deal over the Start screen. I used the DP for months; now the Beta non-stop since 29/2. Hardly ever visit Start. The lack of the old Start Menu & Windows orb is completely meaningless. The OS works just fine, as is. Between the following, there is noise & a...
(Credit: Screenshot by Lance Whitney/CNET) Shutting off Windows used to be a simple matter of clicking the Start button and choosing the "Shut down" option. But the Windows 8 beta has no Start button. So how do you shut it down? Microsoft has concocted a series of manuevers and keyboard...
In case you haven't noticed, if you are on the Metro UI screen and happen to hit the space bar twice, one of the tiles is unpinned from Start..
Not really sure why it would work that way.
