My wife's laptop is a Lenovo ideapad z570. She uses it primarily as a desktop because the lid hinge is loose. So she just props the lid against some books and is quite content. Windows 7 Random BSOD, When multiple tabs are open in Chrome, When I open my lid.

A Windows-based portable computer does not resume correctly if you close the lid while the computer
Fixes a problem that occurs if you close the lid while the computer is asleep and then open the lid to resume the computer. You only see a blank screen and a mouse pointer until you make other inputs such as key strokes or mouse clicks. Link Removed- News
