About this tag
MSWMM is the file extension used by Windows Movie Maker to save movie projects. These files store project data such as video clips, transitions, and timings, but not the actual media files. Users may encounter issues where MSWMM files become corrupted, displaying red Xs and failing to play audio or video, even though other MSWMM files open correctly. In some cases, users have successfully transferred the Windows Movie Maker program from Windows Vista to Windows 7 to maintain compatibility with MSWMM files, as later versions of Windows Live Movie Maker or the standalone v2.6 download may not fully support the format.
