About this tag
Multi gig ethernet covers the faster-than-1GbE networking gear that home and small-office users are increasingly adopting. The tagged discussion looks at when a cheap unmanaged switch becomes the quiet bottleneck behind 2.5GbE desktops, multi-port NAS units, and Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 access points, and it separates the warning signs that call for a faster switch from those that call for a managed one. Cabling mistakes also come up as a possible cause, a reminder that multi-gig speeds depend on the whole path, not just the switch.
