hello all
as the title suggest, i am wondering if the new windows 7 can handle my old computer with no problems.
First of all;
Mobo: Asus P5kpl-am SE
Proc: Pentium D
Ram: 1gig
Video: the integrated intel g31/g33 express (yes, the one that came with the mobo)
hd: 160gigs

Can you password protect Windows XP at start up? I have Windows 7 setup this way and would like to do the same with an older computer running XP.
Thanks in advance
It seems to me that the biggest group of people having problems are trying to use an old computer. Then another group thinks that changing a thing or two like motherboard memory graphics card on an old computer is all that is needed. It seems to me that if the computer was not built for Vista...

Right when I was installing it, my screen went black, and said, no signal found on my moniter (im was currently using the VGA slot on the mother board) So, I put in some...
Well, i have a quite old PC and now I hate using something that isn't 7 or Vista. So i was thinking to install Windows 7 on a Pentium D with 256 RAM.
¿It's going to run? ¿Do you know a lite version out there that can work?
Thanks!

I have been running Win7 successfully until these last updates, on my older computer. I have lost the touchpad and the amount of Ram that my system can access has changed.

Greetings, all!
Just for jollies, I'm trying Windows 7 on an ancient homebrew I built back in 2003 and change. It has a decent (for the times) HD (150g) and reasonable memory (2g) and the processor isn't bad (1.75mhz), but it's the original ABit motherboard and cards.
The point of this is...
Any body no where I can get a set of recovery disc's for an HP Pavilion a645w desktop pc. I have checked with HP and they advised me that my parents computer is 5 years old and they no longer have any recovery disc's for this computer. That was through emails and online chat sessions. My dad Has...

As the title says. My install constantly freezes up (usuall during expanding files). This happens with 4 different ISOs both CD and USB. I managed to install it a couple of times but it just freezes then anyways. My comp is OLD (2004) but it easily meets the minimum specs and surpasses what...
I wanted to test Win7 on a live machine - outside of VM Ware or VPC 2007. So I built my old PC up so it would run again and then fired it up, installed Win 7 (7000) and then realized I had an issue. The space required to have my Laptop and another machine's keyboard and mouse was limited on my...

Hey all,
So as the title says are there any Ubuntu users in the windows7forums community? I use Ubuntu 8.04 which is currently the newest long term support build. It's really the first Linux OS that I've gotten involved with in depth and I have to say I'm very impressed with it. It's rock...
