My wife's computer has an issue that just started a week ago that's driving me nuts. The PC has been running Windows 7 Home Edition (64 bit) for over a year. She sat down to use her computer and tried to open IE (IE9). When she clicked on it, a window popped up that says "Internet explorer has...

Hi all
I'm trying to help out some friends of mine who're not overly PC savvy & who've run into a problem that I'm equally at a loss to help them with.
I appreciate, before I ask, that it may be equally tough for anyone here to know how to track down the problem, but hope that perhaps the info...

Hello,
My daughter's PC, Windows 7 32 bit, all of a sudden started running chkdsk everytime it is booted up. How do we stop this behavior? Her antivirus is up to date and very efficient so we don't know what the computer is checking for.
Please advise as it is driving her crazy.
Thanks,
pvanc

Many of us, who like to futz around with our PC's, not just appliance operators, like to get into our Control Panels every once in a while.
But Win-8 doesn't make that as easy as it was in XP.
However there is a way to get to the control panel in Win-8.
Here's one way:

Been having very sporadic BSOD's for months now and I've tried everything I can think of and more. The BSOD message just says check for recently installed hardware and the error codes is just a load of zeros but up until a few weeks ago I had not replaced any parts.
I've updated all...
