power light
About this tag
The power light on a Windows PC or external device often serves as a key diagnostic indicator for troubleshooting hardware and power issues. In discussions on WindowsForum.com, users report problems such as a solid power light preventing sleep mode, an amber power light on a Dell Inspiron 2305 that won't boot, an external hard drive with a lit power light that isn't detected by Windows, and a computer that fails to wake from sleep with no power light. These threads explore potential causes including power settings, USB port failures, and hardware faults, with solutions ranging from adjusting power options to checking connections or seeking data recovery. The tag covers common scenarios where the power light's behavior helps identify the underlying problem.
