I stupidly installed Family safety filter to see what was involved.
Now I can't uninstall it.
I can remove my settings, or change my profile, and that all works.
But when I go Control Panel/Programs and Features, and click on "Windows Live Essentials", it does nothing, even after re-booting...
I've been running Win7 for a few weeks now on my Sony Vaio laptop. No problem. I went into the user account control area and reset the account control to the minimal setting. It asked for a reboot. Upon reboot the system is completely black screen with no HD activity. I can't boot from the CD...
Hi All

Has anyone had any problems with the black reboot screen appearing after logging off, restarting, switching users, hibernating, or shutting down? (Would you like to start windows normally or in safe mode?) I did a 32bit Vista upgrade.
So installed Windows 7 64 bit without issues. Everything is running great. When I reboot the computer however I recelive errors that the BOOTMGR is missing and it wont boot. If I insert the DVD and reboot then Windows 7 loads fine.
This was a clean install. I am not dual booting any other OS...

I ran disc check (Vista SP1) on my 2nd drive where my docs are, set to run after reboot. AFter the reboot my 2nd drive had been reset to a RAW format rather than the NTFS that it was previously and, of course, all my files had disappeared. I am currently running a disk retrieval tool as it has...
Anytime I restart by clicking restart on the start menu or when a program wants to restart, vista will reboot and and just loop in a reboot mode constantly until I press the power button on my computer and turn in off that way and then when I turn it back on it's fine and boots into windows...
MS did stop the automatic download of SP1 due to the constant reboot problem some users were having. This is now fixed and the service has been resumed. Read more here:
