Sensitivity labels in Microsoft Purview are a core part of Microsoft 365 information protection, and recent roadmap updates show Microsoft expanding their reach across the ecosystem. New features include label inheritance from email attachments in Outlook for iOS, Android, and Mac, as well as automatic labeling for Teams meeting recordings, transcripts, and Loop notes. SharePoint document libraries will soon apply default labels to existing files, closing a governance gap. Administrators also gain improved targeting controls for label policies, including exclusions for modern groups and support for dynamic security groups. Purview DLP policies now block Microsoft 365 Copilot from processing labeled files regardless of storage location, and new sync status visibility helps track label publishing.
