The first time I used backup, it worked fine. The second time, I had to reempty the drive and start over. Now backup is once again telling me that the drive doesn't have enough space on it again. Why can't the damn thing fix itself?

I had Spyware on my XP, so I made a partition of my spare 10gbs, installed Win7, removed XP and all was good.
But then, upgrades and such expanded my Win7 to >9gb, so I wanted to increase the partition size.
Couldn't.
I go to the regular partition screen, I have 9,7gb of unused space...
Out of the 287 GB total, 201 GB is being consumed right after a clean install of the Windows 7 RC. I did delete the windows.old directory. I also checked with TreeSize, and it says I am only using 41GB of the harddrive space. Where could the rest of the 47 GB hard drive space be coming from...
