Windows 7 How to find out which files are linked to bad sectors? Repair with chkdsk?
A surface test of my hard disk with some partition tools showed one or more bad sectors. How can I find out exactly which of my files allocated space these bad sectors in the past? ....and which are now corrupted? I have heard that a "chkdsk" run could repair/exclude these bad sectors...- pstein

Windows 7 How to copy dummy file onto defect hard disk sector and block it?
On one of my (older) computers there is a defect sector on the hard disk. Checking the surface of the hard disk shows a red square for it. It seems to me that all the "usual" reserve sectors are already in use. Every thing else works on this computer. No unusual noise comes from the hard disk...- pstein

Windows 7 Check for ONE File (!) if NTFS structure + hard disk sectors ok?
Obviously the user can check the consistency of a FULL, whole NTFS hard disk by performing a "chkdsk" command and run in addition one of the well known tools (like MiniTool Partition Wizard) a surface test to check whether all sectors of a hard disk are ok.
