system size
About this tag
Discussions tagged with system size on WindowsForum.com focus on the storage footprint of Windows installations, particularly the DriverStore folder and restore points. Users report that the DriverStore can consume tens of gigabytes, leading to questions about why some systems have much smaller Windows installations. Others inquire about the space used by System Restore points and how to manage them. Comparisons between clean installs and upgrades reveal significant differences in total system size, with upgrades retaining more data from previous versions. These threads explore factors affecting Windows disk usage, including update caches and temporary files, and seek methods to reduce system size without compromising functionality.
Hi
I'm still questioning why the driver store folder is so large.
On my computer it's 25 Gigabytes of the total 36.9 Gigabytes of my Windows install.
While I still have enough free space, I wonder why some people can have such small Windows installations.
Obviously they don't have this folder...
I would to know, how many size spend by system to make restore point?
Because I usually create restore point manually before I installing every program/applications.
How to delete earlier restore point?
Thanks,
Hi everyone
Just for a test I did an Upgrade from Vista X-64 and then compared with a Clean W7 X-64.install and re-loaded all the applications I'm using on VISTA X-64.
Partition size I'd defined in both cases was 53.71 GB .
Vista X-64 Used 42 GB
Windows 7 X-64 used 17 GB.
Now I...
