📎 AI Summary:
The thread centers on how a DIY/paper Google Cardboard viewer works without the magnets that normally come with the standard kit, specifically what to do when the app asks the user to “press a button to continue.” The key answer is that the missing magnets are used to trigger the phone’s input during setup/interactions, so the user needs to add/replace a magnet (or otherwise provide the expected sensor input) for the app to proceed—otherwise the onboarding prompt can’t be satisfied. Overall sentiment is helpful and troubleshooting-focused, with contributors guiding the user toward restoring the magnet-based functionality.

Hey guys,
I do not have the magnets that are included with the standard Google Cardboard set. I basically just printed out the whole template, and made it with lenses and a strap-on thing belonging to a real CardBoard (bought) (old). Now that I install the app to use it for the first time, I am instructed to press a button to continue….I have no idea what to do. I had read somewhere that the magnet, which I lost during travelling, actually acted as buttons to interact with the phone. Please help in any way possible, I don't wanna waste my effort in making it.

P.S. the cardboard belonged to my buddy, and I had used it only once before, and thus have almost no knowledge regarding its operation.

Thank You.
