Powys, Wales is a hotspot for the supernatural, according to police records that suggest all manner of weird and wonderful creatures have visited the region.

Dyfed Powys Police have been asked to investigate 26 ghosts, 20 UFOs, 11 witches and even two vampires in recent years, while officers were also called out to two 'zombie spottings'.

One if the sightings turned out to be a character from a horror movie being filmed nearby.

The police force released the information after a request was made under the Freedom of Information Act, as part of a system which sees it publishing responses on its website.

So far, the majority of the requests concern crime statistics for the region, however, there are some more unusual ones.

One request questioned how much the force had spent on mediums, clairvoyants or other psychics in the past five years. The answer was a rather mundane 'nothing', as such services are not used.

The force does refuse to answer some of the requests due to time and cost implications, meaning people will never know how many policemen consider themselves to be a Jedi.

In total, the police have had to deal with 3,300 requests under the Freedom of Information Act in the past five years, at a cost of £500,000.
