Drakong Challenger: $34.99 Hall-Effect Xbox and Windows Controller

Drakong, Hyperkin’s newer gaming-peripherals label, has launched its first controller: The Challenger, a wired gamepad for Xbox consoles and Windows PCs. The controller carries official Xbox licensing for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10 and 11, and is listed at $34.99 in the US.
The Challenger arrives in a busy budget-controller segment but brings a feature set more commonly associated with pricier wired pads. Drakong’s product listing confirms Hall-effect thumbstick switches, two programmable rear buttons, impulse triggers, a 3.5mm headset jack, and a detachable 10-foot USB-C cable. The company also specifies laser-textured grips and triggers, plus membrane ABXY buttons intended to improve longevity.

Hall-effect sticks are the headline specification. Rather than relying on conventional potentiometer-based stick mechanisms, Hall-effect sensors use magnets to measure movement, a design intended to reduce wear-related drift over time. It is not a guarantee against every controller failure, but it is now a meaningful differentiator at this price.
The controller’s wired-only connection is also worth noting. There is no battery or wireless pairing to manage, and the detachable USB-C cable is long enough for typical living-room console setups as well as a desktop PC. The trade-off is obvious: this is not an alternative for players specifically looking for an Xbox Wireless or Bluetooth controller.
The rear buttons can be remapped for extra in-game inputs, placing the Challenger closer to entry-level “pro” controller territory without the usual premium price. Drakong has not positioned it as a full competitive controller, however; it does not claim swappable modules, trigger stops, or onboard profile management.

Hyperkin spins up a new label

Drakong is a Hyperkin-created brand focused on contemporary peripherals, separating it from Hyperkin’s longer-running reputation for retro console accessories and recreations. In a launch statement, Drakong lead product developer Slade Dude Suzuki said the company wanted to put features such as Hall-effect switches and impulse triggers into a lower-cost controller.
As reported by FutureFive, the Challenger was expected to begin shipping at $34.99, £29.99, and €34.99. Drakong’s own store now lists the controller at $34.99 for the supported Xbox and Windows platforms, although availability may vary by retailer and region.
For Windows users, the practical appeal is straightforward: it is a plug-in USB-C gamepad with official Xbox compatibility, a standard asymmetric Xbox layout, a headset port, and two additional buttons. Buyers should still wait for hands-on reports on stick calibration, trigger feel, firmware support, and long-term build quality before treating the Hall-effect specification as proof of durability.
The Challenger is available now or beginning to ship through Drakong retail channels, depending on region.
