What we cover, and from where
We monitor Microsoft's official channels — the Windows Insider blog, MSRC security advisories, the Microsoft 365 Message Center and the Microsoft 365 Roadmap — along with CISA advisories and reporting from established technology outlets. From those we publish original analysis for the Windows community in Windows News, Security Alerts and Windows Tutorials.
Our use of AI, stated plainly
News Desk articles are produced with AI assistance. We think you are entitled to know exactly what that means here, because the phrase covers everything from careful research tooling to unattributed rewriting, and ours is the former.
A News Desk article is not a model paraphrasing another outlet's story. Our publishing pipeline:
- Fetches primary sources first. For a KB article, Microsoft's own support documentation. For a vulnerability, the MSRC and CVE registries. For a product change, the vendor's own advisory or roadmap entry.
- Extracts a structured fact table from those sources before any prose is written, so the article is composed against verified facts rather than against a secondary summary.
- Runs a critique-and-revision pass that is grounded on the fetched source text, not on the model's own recollection.
- Verifies identifiers live. Every KB and CVE number in a finished article is checked against the issuing registry. An identifier that does not resolve is hedged or removed before publication.
- Merges coverage of a single event rather than publishing a separate article per outlet, and blocks stories we have already told through a pre-publication duplicate check.
Every article names and links its sources. Where a claim is projection or interpretation rather than confirmed fact, we label it as such. Where we are reporting someone else's reporting, we say whose and link to it.
Human oversight
Editorial policy, source selection, section scope and publication standards are set and maintained by the site's editor, who is accountable for what appears here. Articles are monitored after publication, and every article carries an open discussion thread — our members are technically expert and quick to say so when something is wrong. That feedback loop is a genuine part of our process, not a courtesy.
Corrections
If we got something wrong, tell us: reply in the article's discussion thread or contact us. Corrections are made in place. Where an error was material — a wrong identifier, a wrong version number, a wrong conclusion — the correction is noted on the article rather than made silently.

WindowsForum.com is funded by advertising, member donations and affiliate arrangements on software sales. We accept no payment for coverage. No advertiser, vendor or affiliate partner reviews articles before publication or influences what we cover. We have no commercial relationship with Microsoft Corporation.
