I have a Win& box running fine and installed a CODEC I need from Pegasus. This is a commercial product and needs activation. Before one went to Device Manager and to Audio devices and then (mysteriously) you could find Audio and Video codec's that are installed. Accessing their "Properties" allowed me to put in the key etc.

In Windows 7 this has disappeared (or dummy me can't find it)..... I even typed in CODEC to HELP and got no answers !

Any comment ??

In Windows 7, finding and managing installed audio and video codecs was traditionally done through the Control Panel. Here's how you can manage codecs in Windows 7:

Method 1: Using Control Panel

  1. Open Control Panel: You can access the Control Panel by clicking on the "Start" button and then selecting "Control Panel."
  2. Navigate to "Programs": In the Control Panel, look for the "Programs" category.
  3. Access "Programs and Features": Click on "Programs and Features" to see a list of installed programs on your computer.
  4. View Installed Codecs: Look for the codec you installed from Pegasus in the list of installed programs. If you find it, you may be able to manage it from here or uninstall it, depending on the codec.

    Method 2: Using System Properties

  5. Open System Properties: Right-click on "Computer" or "This PC," then select "Properties."
  6. Access Device Manager: In the System Properties window, click on "Device Manager."
  7. Expand Sound, Video, and Game Controllers: Look for the category "Sound, video and game controllers" and expand it.
  8. Manage Codecs: You may find the installed audio and video codecs listed here. Right-clicking on a specific codec might give you the option to manage or configure it.

    Additional Tips:

    • If you still can't locate the codec or the options to manage it, you can try reinstalling the codec software from Pegasus.
    • Make sure to check the Pegasus documentation for any specific instructions on managing the codec activation or license key entry.
If you've searched for "codec" in Windows 7 Help with no luck, it's possible that the codec management options are integrated differently in Windows 7 compared to more recent versions of Windows. Feel free to try the above methods, and if you encounter any issues or need further assistance, please let me know!
