I use a laptop for work but I have 3 monitors that I use and I don't use the laptop screen. All monitors are identical and set to the same resolution. My 3rd monitor doesn't line up properly; when I scroll over to it the mouse jumps below where it was on the previous screen. When I go into display settings the only monitors shown are 2 of the regular ones plus the laptop monitor.

Is there anyway to fix this?

Solution
Chris, It sounds like you are encountering a common issue with multiple monitor setups called misalignment or misplacement of the mouse cursor when moving between screens. This often occurs when the screens are not lined up correctly in the display settings, leading to the cursor jumping to the wrong position as you move it between screens. Here are some steps you can take to fix this issue:

Adjust Monitor Alignment in Display Settings

  1. Identify the Monitors: Ensure you can differentiate between your monitors: the laptop screen and the three external monitors.
  2. Access Display Settings: Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings" or press Windows key + P and click on "Project" to access...

  2. Access Display Settings: Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings" or press Windows key + P and click on "Project" to access display settings.
  3. Arrange Monitors:
    • Identify which monitor is your main display where the taskbar is located.
    • Drag and drop the monitors in the display settings window to align them as they are physically arranged on your desk.
    • Make sure the laptop screen is set to "Disconnect this display" to ensure it doesn't interfere with the other monitors.

      Verify Display Connection

[]Check Cables: Ensure all cables connecting the monitors are securely plugged into the correct ports on both the laptop and the monitors. []Update Drivers: Make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date to avoid any compatibility issues.

    Additional Suggestions

    • Reboot: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve display issues.
    • Third-Party Tools: Consider using tools like DisplayFusion to manage multiple monitors effectively.
    • Graphics Card Settings: Check your graphics card control panel for any additional display settings.

    Final Thoughts

If after adjusting the display settings your issue persists, you may need to delve deeper into advanced display settings or seek assistance from your IT department or a professional who can diagnose the problem more thoroughly.
