AMD hints on Zen speed

This image was recently displayed to investors apparently showing the speed of the coming 14nm Zen processor.

Orochi refers to the FX-8350 series and Summit relates to Zen.

I find that scale a bit hard to believe but thanks for the heads up.

Well they did go from 32nm to 14nm so maybe it isn't far off perhaps? What do you think?

I don;t know, going from 32mn to 14nm and the difference of 4 years worth of RnD more likely means they'll get that performance. I think the original article does mention per watt, which makes sense with a die shrink. Add onto that new processes for how the cores work. May happen.

Just the nanometer change alone could herald big changes but until we see those benchmarks it's all guesswork..

AMD has just announced its upcoming Zen x86 core that delivers 40 percent more IPC from the current generation.
Company CEO Lisa Su pointed out that Summit Ridge is the new core codename, and that Zen is alive, on track and the introduction video played was rendered on a Zen processor.

New platforms not until January

We have been expecting Intel and AMD to release their new generation CPU’s by the end of the year, but now it looks like we will not see them until Janaury.

Digitimes claims that both Intel and AMD have delayed their launches until January 2017 at CES 2017 because the upstream supply chain still has serious inventory issues, and market demand has been pants.
