Hello,
I have a sony vaio laptop which came with a pre-installed windows 8 OS. I recently upgraded it to windows 8.1. After the upgrade, I have observed that many softwares that are actually installed on the system are not listed in the apps list, such as Microsoft office, autocad, freemake, etc.
Can anyone help me fix this issue?
Thank You

Solution
It seems like the issue you are facing after upgrading your Sony Vaio laptop to Windows 8.1 is that some installed software, like Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Freemake, is not appearing in the apps list. This could be due to a variety of reasons, but most commonly, it's related to how the software was installed or a glitch in the operating system. To address this issue, here are some steps you can take to potentially fix the missing software from the apps list:

Method 1: Check Installed Programs

  1. Control Panel:
    • Open the Control Panel by searching for it in the start menu.
    • Navigate to "Programs" and then click on "Programs and Features."
    • Check if the missing software is listed in the installed programs...

Method 1: Check Installed Programs

  1. Control Panel:
    • Open the Control Panel by searching for it in the start menu.
    • Navigate to "Programs" and then click on "Programs and Features."
    • Check if the missing software is listed in the installed programs. If it is, the software is still there, but it might not be showing up in the apps list.

Method 2: Refreshing the Apps List

    []Refresh the Apps List:
    • Sometimes, the apps list might not update properly. Try refreshing it.
    • Press Windows key + R, type wsreset, and press Enter. This will refresh the Windows Store cache and might bring back the missing apps.

Method 3: Reinstall or Repair the Missing Software

    [
    ]Reinstall Apps:
    • If the software is missing from the apps list, you can try reinstalling it.
    • Go to the software manufacturer's website, download the latest version, and reinstall the software.

      Method 4: Check System Files

    []System File Checker (SFC):
    • Run a System File Checker scan to check for and repair corrupted system files.
    • Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command: sfc /scannow.

      Method 5: Update Windows

    [
    ]Windows Update:
    • Make sure your Windows 8.1 is up to date with the latest updates.
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. After trying these methods, check if the missing software reappears in the apps list. If none of these solutions work, there might be a deeper issue with the Windows upgrade process that requires further troubleshooting. If you encounter any specific error messages or need further assistance, please provide more details so we can help you better.
