Windows 7 Audio Lag for Mic input

Hello I notice a irritating lag in the mic input, especially when I plug in my electric guitar's amp into the mic in. There is a delay for about 1 sec. No such delay on Vista or XP. Any ideas? This is the only thing that prevents me from going to W7
