Just wondering if anyone has a solution or also experienced an issue with hibernate waking itself up. It used to be a bad problem when other PCs on the network were wakened, it would trigger the Windows 7 PC to wake every time. That doesn't seem to be an issue anymore, and it was fine for a while, but lately the PC will not stay in hibernate for very long before waking itself.

I have disabled the 'allow this device to wake the computer' in power management, for network devices and USB devices. The hibernate I am used to shuts the PC DOWN. Trickling data into the NIC I wouldn't think would make a difference. There seems to be an uber sensitivity to bringing the PC back up. Don't like it. Thanks for any help.

    ]Update Device Drivers:
    • Make sure all your device drivers, especially those for network adapters and USB devices, are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause such issues.
    []Disable Automatic Maintenance:
    • Automatic maintenance tasks can wake up your PC. Disable this feature temporarily to see if it affects the hibernation behavior.
    [
    ]Check Scheduled Tasks:
    • Review your scheduled tasks to see if any tasks are set to wake the computer. You can check this in the Task Scheduler.
    []Disable Wake on LAN (WoL):
    • Disable Wake on LAN in the BIOS settings of your PC if it's enabled. This can prevent network activity from waking the computer.
    [
    ]Check Event Viewer:
    • Look for any related events in the Event Viewer that might indicate what is triggering the wake-up.
    []Power Management Settings:
    • Double-check the power management settings for all devices, including the NIC and USB devices. Make sure to disable any settings that allow them to wake the computer.
    [
    ]Disable Fast Startup:
    • Sometimes, Fast Startup can cause issues with hibernation. Try disabling Fast Startup to see if it makes a difference.
  2. Update Windows:
    • Ensure that your Windows 7 system is up to date with the latest updates and patches. Microsoft often releases fixes for power management issues.

      Additional Tips:

      • Ensure that no external factors like connected peripherals or other network devices are causing the wake-up.
      • Consider running a malware scan to rule out any malicious software causing the wake-up.
By following these steps and checking the settings mentioned, you should be able to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue of your Windows 7 PC waking up from hibernation unexpectedly. If you need further assistance or encounter any specific error messages, feel free to provide more details for tailored help.
