Hi everyone!

Please find my PC specs as below:

CPU: i7 2600k 3.5ghz
MOBO: Gigabyte g1.Sniper 2
RAM: Corsair CL8 vengence 8gb (4x2)
SSD: Corsair Force 3 60gb (Windows 7 pro 64 bit installed here)
VGA: Sapphire 2gb 6950 x 2 (in crossfire)
HDD: Western Digital 2TB SATA 3 black
PSU: Corsair HX-1050W

My computer is only one month old and I am getting blue screen's of death when playing battlefield 3 (Display set to ultra settings). Please note, the rate of BSOD occurence is very random, I can play for hours without one ever occuring, other times it may happen within the hour. It is purely random, but tends to occur during longer times of play.

I have updated all drivers to the latest including Video card and MOBO, this seemed to have helped reduce the BSOD for some days up until now where another had occured.

Please find attached a zip file containing the .dmp and screen shots taken from CPU-z.

Please note; I have not overclocked any parts in this system.

Thank you, any help provided will be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards
Steve.

Solution
Hi mmarasco and Welcome to The Forum.

STOP 0x00000050: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
Usual causes:
Defective hardware (particularly memory - but not just RAM), Faulty system service, Antivirus, Device driver, NTFS corruption, BIOS.

Your latest dump file lists atikmdag.sys as the probable cause. This is one of your graphics drivers.
Old and incompatible drivers can and do cause issues with Windows 7, often giving false error codes. Random stop codes can often indicate hardware issues.

One dump file doesn't really give a lot to go on, but I'll try!

As a Priority:

Avira is known to be a cause of BSOD's on many Windows 7 systems.

As a Priority:

Avira is known to be a cause of BSOD's on many Windows 7 systems.
Uninstall Avira through the Control Panel. Then run the Link Removed to clean up any remaining registry entries. Download BSOD friendly Link Removed due to 404 Error as its replacement. Make sure Windows firewall is enabled!

Although you have the latest graphics drivers, as they were blamed, I'd suggest re-installing them.
Link Removed

  • Download and install Driver Sweeper.
  • Uninstall your current Graphics setup through Programs and Features
  • Boot to and run (preferably) Driver Sweeper in Safe Mode to clean up the remnants of your current Graphics set up.
  • Reboot to Normal Mode.
  • Install your new Graphics set up.

Ram timings look good to me, but what do I know?? :D I'll get confirmation of this though. You may possibly have to run Memtest to make sure everything is Hunky Dory.

Apart from that, I'll say it's a pleasure to look at a dump file that has all the drivers out of the "danger zone" ones.

And naming your uploaded zip file with a unique name to you removes one of those small but very boring tasks for me. Thank you.

Solution
Thank you so much Elmer! It turned out to be AVIRA, when I tried to uninstall the registry; instant BSOD so I uninstalled it in safe mode.

Days of playing and not a single BSOD, Joy!

Thanks again!!! Much appreciated

Steve
