Normally I use my touchpad which requires higher mouse sensitivity. Is there a way to automatically change the pointer speed when a USB mouse is plugged in? Would be really handy. Thanks.

Solution
To automatically change the pointer speed when a USB mouse is plugged in, you can use a third-party tool called "X-Mouse Button Control." This software allows you to customize your mouse actions and settings, including adjusting the pointer speed based on whether a USB mouse is connected. Here's a general outline of how you can achieve this: 1. Download X-Mouse Button Control: You can download this software from the official website or a trusted source. 2. Install X-Mouse Button Control: Follow the installation instructions and set up the software on your system. 3. Configure Profile Settings: - Create a profile specifically for your touchpad settings. - Adjust the pointer speed to your desired level for the touchpad...

Configure Profile Settings: - Create a profile specifically for your touchpad settings. - Adjust the pointer speed to your desired level for the touchpad in this profile. 4. Create an Automatic Profile Switch: - In X-Mouse Button Control, you can set up rules or conditions that trigger profile changes. - Configure a rule to switch to your touchpad profile when a USB mouse is not detected. - Set up a rule to switch to a different profile, preferably with a different pointer speed, when a USB mouse is plugged in. 5. Test the Configuration: - Plug in your USB mouse to see if the pointer speed changes automatically based on the profile settings. By following these steps and customizing the profiles in X-Mouse Button Control, you can achieve the automatic adjustment of the pointer speed when switching between your touchpad and a USB mouse. Remember to download software from trusted sources and ensure compatibility with your operating system before installation. This solution should help you seamlessly switch between mouse sensitivity settings based on the input device connected to your system.
