The computer clock in my Windows 7 b7100 installation has been gaining about 30 seconds per day. I have tried setting the clock in Win7 to synchronize with time.windows.com and 4 different government servers. But with each set individually, the system clock never seems to be updated, and gains time every day.

In the past few weeks I've tried going to this registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\w32time\TimeProviders\NtpClient

And changing the default value of 604800 for the DWORD 'SpecialPollInterval' to 86400 (1 day) and 3600 (1 hour). But the system never synchronized the time after waiting 1 day and 1 hour respectively. I have to do it manually every day with Win7's 'Date and Time' > 'Interent Time' > Change Settings' > 'Update Now'.

This same system has never had any problem with synchronizing time with installations of Windows XP and Windows Vista in the past.

Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this?

Thanx

It seems like you are facing an issue with time synchronization on your Windows 7 b7100 installation where the system clock is gaining about 30 seconds per day, despite trying various methods to synchronize the time with different servers. Here are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can take to address the time synchronization issue on Windows 7: 1. Check Windows Time Service: Ensure that the Windows Time service is running on your system. You can check and start the service by following these steps: - Press Windows Key + R, type services.msc, and press Enter. - Look for 'Windows Time' in the list of services. Make sure the service is running and set to Automatic. 2. Check Date and Time Settings: Verify...

Incorrect settings can lead to time synchronization issues. 3. Firewall Settings: In some cases, the firewall settings can block the time synchronization process. Check if any firewall settings are interfering with the communication between your system and the time servers. 4. Third-Party Software: Ensure that there are no third-party software applications installed on your system that might be conflicting with the time synchronization process. Sometimes security software can interfere with time synchronization. 5. Update Windows 7: Make sure that your Windows 7 installation is up to date with the latest updates and patches. Sometimes, time synchronization issues can be resolved by installing the latest updates from Microsoft. 6. Hardware Check: While rare, faulty hardware like a failing CMOS battery can also cause time synchronization problems. If all software aspects seem fine, consider checking the hardware components. If after performing these steps the issue persists, it might be worth considering a more in-depth investigation of the system to identify any underlying causes.
