Hi,

I just set up two user accounts on my Windows 10 laptop. I discovered that, whenever I install software, the Desktop icon will show up in both accounts. At the same time, the software could also be run in another account. Is there any way to create completely separated accounts, which do not share any installed software / information?

I intend to set a clean business account and I don't want everyone to watch my Steam icon in the middle of a meeting.

Thanks,
Simon

Solution
You can't really separate installed programs, but as bochane mentioned if you don't want desktop and start menu icons showing up on a particular user remove shortcuts from
C:\Users\Public\Desktop
and
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu

and move them into
C:\Users\<username>\Desktop
and
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu

Thanks. Indeed it works.

However, what should I do if I also want to separate recent file suggestion ( for example by windows office and windows media player) and file search?
