My desktop is a mess so I'd like to take one of my spare hard drives (wiped) and turn it into something like a large USB drive. I don't know how to reactivate a totally wiped drive though. I bought the two 500gb drives from eBay. Wish they could have put something on them so they'd boot. I'll probably need a step by step for this. Thanks for your time

Solution
To turn a spare wiped hard drive into an external storage device similar to a large USB drive, you can follow these steps: 1. Physically Connect the Hard Drive: - Ensure the wiped hard drive is connected to your desktop. You can use a SATA-to-USB adapter or an external hard drive enclosure for this purpose. 2. Format the Drive: - Select the file system (usually NTFS is preferred for Windows) and provide a volume label. - Complete the formatting process to make the drive usable. 5. Eject Safely: - Once the drive is fully set up, use the "Safely Remove Hardware" option in the system tray to eject the drive before disconnecting it. Following these steps should help you set up the wiped hard drive as an external storage device. Always ensure you have a backup of important data before starting this process. Let me know if you need further assistance with any of these steps.
