I recently installed windows 7 RC and I like it for the most part. But if I put my SD card from my digital camera into the computer I can only copy or read the files, it will not give me the option to delete the files. Does anyone know how to change the settings to allow the computer to delete files from the card?

Solution
To enable the option to delete files from an SD card inserted into your computer running Windows 7, you may need to adjust the write-protection settings. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Check SD Card Lock Switch

  1. Ensure that the lock switch on the side of the SD card is set to the unlocked position. If the switch is in the locked position, it prevents deleting or writing to the card.

    Take Ownership of the Files

  2. Take Ownership of the Files:
    • Right-click on the folder containing the files on the SD card.
    • Select "Properties."
    • Navigate to the "Security" tab.
    • Click on "Edit" and then "Add."
    • Enter your Windows user account name and click "Check Names" to validate.
