Hi there,
I work in a lab and am trying to get my microscope to talk to my computer. I had it working at one point, but due to various reasons, the software controlling the microscope had to be wiped from the computer and reinstalled (including reinstalling all the drivers). Now when I plug in the microscope (via USB), the computer makes a sound to verify that something has been plugged in but nothing else. Usually it comes up as its own device in device manager however since reinstalling the software, nothing changes at all - no new device, or unreconised device or unrecognised disk and the software gives an error saying that no device is connected.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to try?

Restart your computer and check for updates if any then plug in your Microscope, Some of the time simple computer restart solve most of the problems. If persists then uninstall the driver and restart your computer after restart check for updates and wait till windows itself install the required driver. Now Plug in your Microscope, Hoping your problem will be solved...

Unfortunately I have tried all of that, and tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software again but that didn't work. The computer doesn't seem to automatically reinstall the driver after reboot, though it could be that I didn't wait long enough before checking. Have also tried uninstalling all the drivers associated with the USB ports and that didn't help either.Restart your computer and check for updates if any then plug in your Microscope, Some of the time simple computer restart solve most of the problems. Seems that your system files are corrupted. Why not you reset your computer or Clean install Windows to get rid of all these problems...Unfortunately I have tried all of that, and tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software again but that didn't work. I was trying to avoid that - the network is maintained by my work so I'll need them to redo that, the software has a licence that is specific to the computer which I'll have to ask the company for and I have a bunch of specialised software that I'll have to reinstall. Asking on here was my last attempt at solving the problem before I gave in to wiping it.Seems that your system files are corrupted. I would assume the update replaces your system chipset drivers with genetic Microsoft drivers and they disabled the actual Usb port
You would test for this by plugging into a different Usb port or even a different system

Thanks for the reply - I tried that too. Plugging it into a different USB port on the same device has the same effect but it works fine when plugged into a different device. I can't just use a different device though as the licence is still attached to just that computer.I would assume the update replaces your system chipset drivers with genetic Microsoft drivers and they disabled the actual Usb port
