Introduction​

Microsoft has unveiled Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 23580 in the Dev Channel, showcasing several improvements and fixes.

Changes and Improvements​

Copilot in Windows:
- The build initially allowed users with local accounts access to Copilot in Windows for a limited number of queries. However, an update on December 8 temporarily disabled this feature in the Dev Channel, with plans to reinstate it in a future flight.

Windows Share:
- Significantly enhanced nearby share transfer speeds for users on the same network, allowing transfers on public or private networks with Quick Settings activation.

Emoji:
- Temporarily disabled the update of the color font format to COLRv1 (introduced in Build 23506) for displaying richer emoji, addressing bugs that will be resolved in a future Dev Channel flight.

Fixes​

- Resolved issues such as File Explorer crashes in Windows Sandbox, Group By functionality affecting Gallery display, and desktop tooltips readability in Task View.

- New issues include the unintentional reappearance of the purple Chat button on the taskbar after updating to this build.

- Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels from version 22310.xxxx.x of the Microsoft Store and higher can now customize the installation location of games like Starfield, Halo Infinite, and Forza Motorsport, providing flexibility in drive selection for game installations, synchronized with the Xbox app.
