It seems like the issue with event sounds not working on your user account in Windows 7 RC while they continue to work on another user account can be specific to settings or configurations related to your user profile. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this issue without rolling back the updates: 1. Check Sound Settings: - Go to the Control Panel and navigate to "Sound." - Check the playback devices to ensure the correct one is set as default. 2. Sound Troubleshooter: - Use the Windows sound troubleshooter to automatically detect and resolve sound-related issues. - Go to Control Panel > Troubleshooting > Hardware and Sound. 4. Driver Update: - Update sound drivers for your system. You can do this in the Device Manager by right-clicking on the sound device and selecting "Update driver." 5. System File Checker: - Run the System File Checker tool to scan and restore corrupted system files that may be affecting sound functionality. - Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command: sfc /scannow 6. Check Volume Mixer: - Ensure that the volume mixer settings are not muted or set too low for the application generating the event sounds. 7. Third-Party Software Conflict: - Check if any recently installed third-party software is conflicting with the sound settings. Try disabling or uninstalling such software temporarily to see if the issue resolves. 8. Windows Update Troubleshooter: - Run the Windows Update troubleshooter to check for any system-related issues that might be affecting sound. - Go to Control Panel > Troubleshooting > System and Security > Fix problems with Windows Update. 9. Group Policy Settings: - Check Group Policy settings that might be affecting sound configurations. - Type "gpedit.msc" in the Run dialog box and navigate to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Control Panel > Sounds. By following these steps, you should be able to pinpoint and resolve the issue with event sounds on your user account in Windows 7 RC without having to roll back updates. If the issue persists, consider seeking further assistance from Microsoft support or Windows forums for more advanced troubleshooting steps.
