Hi I've assigned 2.25 GB of ram on the XP mode but it is not using it.
When I am on XP mode and open the Task Manager I can see the allocated RAM of 2.25 but the PF Usage gauge never exceeds 250 MB even when running demanding applications. But in Device Manager in XP mode there is a ? sign on a node named Other Devices and under that a ? Virtual PC Integration Device.....

Thank you in advance for your help.

PS. I am using a x64 windows 7 and all virtualization settings on my processor are activated in BIOS

It seems like you are facing an issue with allocating and utilizing the assigned RAM in XP Mode on your x64 Windows 7 system. The "Virtual PC Integration Device" you mentioned with a question mark in Device Manager usually indicates a missing driver for integration between the host system (Windows 7 in this case) and the virtual machine (XP Mode). This driver enables seamless interaction and communication between the host and the virtual machine. To address the issue of the unutilized RAM and the missing driver, here are some steps you can follow:

Addressing the RAM Allocation Issue:

This driver enables seamless interaction and communication between the host and the virtual machine. To address the issue of the unutilized RAM and the missing driver, here are some steps you can follow:

Addressing the RAM Allocation Issue:

  1. Check Virtual PC Settings:
    • Open Virtual PC settings for your XP Mode virtual machine and ensure that you have allocated 2.25 GB of RAM correctly.
    • If needed, adjust the RAM allocation and restart the virtual machine to apply the changes.
    []Resource Monitoring:
    • Monitor the resource allocation within the virtual machine to observe if the RAM is being utilized effectively.
    • Use tools like Task Manager within the XP Mode to monitor the RAM usage by different applications running in the virtual environment.

      Resolving the Missing Driver Issue:

    [
    ]Install Integration Components:
    • The missing driver issue can be resolved by installing the Integration Components (or Integration Features) specific to Virtual PC for XP Mode.
    • These components facilitate better integration between the virtual machine and the host system.
  2. Device Manager Troubleshooting:
    • In Device Manager, right-click on the device with the question mark and choose to update the driver software.
    • If the Integration Components are not installed, you may need to download them from the official Microsoft website or use the integration setup available within the Virtual PC software. By ensuring proper RAM allocation and resolving the missing driver issue through the installation of Integration Components, you should be able to improve the performance and integration of XP Mode on your Windows 7 system. If you encounter any difficulties during this process or if you need further assistance, feel free to provide more details for additional support.
