My favorites bar in the navigation pane has no locations to choose from and will not allow me to add any files. When I try to add current location nothing happens; when I try to restore defaults nothing happens.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

It seems like you're encountering an issue with your Favorites bar in the navigation pane in Windows. To address this problem, you can try a few troubleshooting steps:
  1. Reset the Windows Explorer:
    • Open the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
    • Locate Windows Explorer in the list of processes, right-click it, and select Restart.
[]Clear the Windows File Explorer History:
    • Open File Explorer, go to the View tab, and click on Options.
    • In the Folder Options window, go to the General tab and under Privacy, click on the Clear button next to 'Clear File Explorer history'.

    ]Check the Registry:
    • Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
    • Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Modules\Favorites.
    • Check if the Favorites key is present. If not, you may need to recreate it.
    []Use the Command Prompt:
    • Open Command Prompt as an administrator by searching for cmd in the Start menu, right-clicking it, and selecting Run as administrator.
    • Enter the following command and press Enter: regsvr32 /i shell32.dll.
    [
    ]Create a New User Account:
    • Sometimes user profile corruption can lead to such issues. Create a new user account and check if the problem persists there.
  2. Perform a System File Checker (SFC) Scan:
    • Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command: sfc /scannow
    • This will scan for and repair any corrupted system files that might be causing the issue. If after trying these solutions the problem still persists, let me know so we can explore further options to resolve the issue.
