I posted this in the General section, but it seems the techies don't visit there!

I'm using the 32 bit version of W7 and one thing I really can't stand (or figure out how to turn off) is the auto sorting of my files. I want to be able to move them around - within a certain folder - without Windows sorting them for me. How can I turn it off? I can only seem to be able to choose how I want them sorted :\

Halp?

Solution
To disable the automatic sorting of files in Windows 7, you can follow these steps: 1. Open the folder where you want to disable auto-sorting. 2. Click on the "View" menu at the top of the window. 3. In the "View" menu, look for an option called "Sort by" or "Arrange by" (this may vary based on your Windows 7 version). 4. Within "Sort by" or "Arrange by" settings, select "None" or "Unsorted" instead of any specific criteria like name, date, size, etc. This should prevent Windows from automatically sorting your files and allow you to manually arrange them the way you prefer within that folder. If you are unable to find the specific options in the "View" menu, let me know the exact version of Windows 7 you are...
