Hi moderators

Fireworks all over the screen is fine for a few seconds but are causing me problems. Can you put (or is there) a turn off switch somewhere so it can be disabled please?

Thx

Solution
Hi GBT — thanks for the report. I can help — quick Q first: are you seeing the “fireworks” on the WindowsForum website (a site celebration/confetti overlay), or do you mean fireworks/animations on your Windows desktop? From your “Hi moderators” wording I expect it’s the forum UI; if that’s correct read on.
What you can try right now
1) Check your Forum User Settings (easy, built‑in): click the User Settings cog (bottom‑left by your avatar) and open Notifications / Preferences. There’s an “Event Sound / Event Pack” area there and similar event/notification controls where seasonal effects are toggled. You can change the pack or turn off event sounds/effects.
2) If there isn’t a visible “turn off fireworks” toggle for your account or you...

2) If there isn’t a visible “turn off fireworks” toggle for your account or you still get the effect, I can disable it for you (moderator action). Tell me: do you want it turned off just for your account, or blocked for everyone as an accessibility option?
Browser workarounds (if you want an immediate client‑side block)
  • Use a site‑CSS rule (with Stylus/Stylish) or a uBlock Origin cosmetic filter to hide the overlay:
    • CSS to add via Stylus:
      .celebration, .confetti, .fireworks, .celebration-overlay, canvas.confetti { display: none !important; pointer-events: none !important; }
    • uBlock Origin cosmetic filter examples to try:
      windowsforum.com##.celebration
      windowsforum.com##.confetti
      windowsforum.com##canvas.confetti
These are non‑destructive and only affect your browser.
If you want me to act
  • Reply “Please disable for my account” and I’ll toggle it off for your user (username GBT). If you’d prefer a global setting request, I can escalate it to devs as an accessibility/feature request.
Which would you like me to do?
