I'm on my second NVIDA GeForce GTX 970 graphics card in 3 years and it's starting to act strange like the first one did before crapping out.

Do the newer graphics cards work OK with WIN 7 Pro 64bit? I'm assuming they should be backwards compatible, right?

I'd like to try something other than NVIDA this time around so if anybody has any suggestions on a card that is comparable to the NVIDA GeForce GTX 970 please let me know

I'm leaning towards the MSI Gaming Radeon RX 570 but I'm open to other suggestions

Compared to the 970 the Radeon 570 is a bit of a drop performance wise:
PassMark - GeForce GTX 970 - Price performance comparison

Radeon 570
PassMark - Radeon RX 570 - Price performance comparison

As long as there is driver support then yes it should work fine.
